Lowie for a Summer at the French Riviera

Nautical prints and ice cream colours the theme for Lowie collection this Spring and Summer. Stripes and colours that remind me of that lovely film " Operation Petticoat", with high waisted trousers and shorts, cardigans with mini buttons and amazing tea dresses with navy style collars. Lowie's palette includes sea blues, sorbet pinks, navy blues and sand. Prints with little anchors and sailboats are very pretty and the cardigans complement perfectly every garment. Lowie has got a strong ethic commitment using organic cotton and recycled one, also trying to source the best eco friendly wool for the  winter collection. The production of knits  and crochet is made in small villages in China giving the opportunity with this job to keep family together without being forced to leave the village and look for a job in a big city. Vintage scarves and the customised caps are sourced  mostly in Great Britain, while hats, bags and purses are made in Turkey by a lovely couple that collaborates with the brand. Leather belts are made in a small workshop in India and everything from the leather to the buckles and other small trimmings are sourced in Delhi. Lowie as you can see really cares in having a fair trade production and trying to help the environment as much as it can by using vintage and end of line fabrics.
Among the stockists in Great Britain Liberty. Anthropologie in London, Opium in Truro Cornwall, McQueen in Manchester and many more, check them on its website:

Christopher Raeburn Outwear Collection

Christopher Raeburn has got an awards under his belt and a nomination for Emerging Menswear Talent. His collection is just something that everyone would wear, nice pieces brightly coloured, perfect for this English weather quite unpredictable even in August. Here Christopher Raeburn' s jackets and sweatshirts are the must items to put in a suitcase for a holiday in the countryside. This season the guest of honour for his prints is a Squirrel and we've seen giant squirrels during London Fashion Week posing among the collection. Christopher Raeburn was wearing one of his pullover and he showed me how the light reflects on the prints becoming fluorescent.
Christopher Raeburn is  a strong supporter of using British textiles and companies for his "British" range and his commitment in using fabrics reclaimed from other sources like the vintage military fabrics used for his latest collection "Remade" where  every garment has got only 50 pieces worldwide, a limited edition collection. With the range " Lightweight" has been made using reconstructed parachute fabric. Looking forward to see his new collection at Harvey Nichols, for now just have a small preview of his menswear range.

Ekaterina Kukhareva, Bright Knit for Spring Summer 2012

The first thing you notice about Ekaterina Kukhareva collection is the brightness of her creations. Big flower, very 1970's, they would be perfect for a vinyl record cover like “Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band" by the Beatles. In Ekaterina Kukhareva you will see a joy of life and warmth, emphasized by the knits present in this Spring Summer Collection at the Exhibition organized by the Vauxhall Fashion Scout at the Freemasons Hall.
A vivid palette of orange, lime, blue, pink together with white and grey. The collection is very wearable and easy to match among the garments, with tops and skirts with the same prints and dresses that can be glamourised by adding a crocheted little cardigan. Shorts and trousers complement a knitted tunic in bright colours or jacquard jackets. Ekaterina Kukhareva employs wool and cotton together with lurex and viscose. I love this very feminine collection which can be bought in the next few months at Wolf & Badger in Notting Hill at
46 Ledbury Road

Vanessa G.: When Fashion meets Art

Vanessa G. stands for Vanessa Gounden, an amazing woman who through her experience and her life, creates  her label thinking about it like wearable art. Her outfit are spectacular, real paintings that come to life when worn by a woman who dares to be different and at the same time like luxury and high quality in her clothing. Vanessa G. gives all these things to her customers, bold prints depicting everything from plastic and metal  to ornated frames and abstract images. I've been attracted by Vanessa G. collection during London Fashion Week at Somerset House. The dresses are incredible, full of details and the fabrics are the best that could be used for prints and the paint techniques employed by the designer.

Good One, when Fashion is Good Indeed

I've got a fondness for ethical fashion. I believe that caring for the environment while producing clothing, using up cycled and locally sourced materials and employing fair trade or locally based companies is very important. Good One really ticks all the boxes for its commitment in being eco conscious winning several awards since when they started in 2006. All Good One collections are made with British fabrics and reclaimed ones. The collection Spring Summer 2012 see bold colours like blue aquamarine, green or purple. Silk and jersey are combined together creating unusual silhouettes.

A La Disposition Spring Summer 2012

I've really enjoyed A La Disposition show during London Fashion Week, held at the Freemasons Hall for the Vauxhall Fashion Scout. Jewel colours were on the catwalk, rich purples like amethyst, military green that reminded me of green tourmalines and bright yellows like the rarest sapphires. Volumes were aplenty with puff skirts and dresses and the fabrics were luxurious. Soon the shop online will be open but for now you can follow this great label on their Facebook page to be aware of news about the brand.

Beautiful Soul " Summer Breeze"

Beautiful Soul is one of those brands that hook you as soon as you discover them. Based in Notting Hill the creative Nicola Woods sources among vintage Japanese kimono fabrics the most beautiful prints for her collections as well as employing organic fabrics, British wool and using scraps of material as fastenings and embellishments for her clothing.
There is no waste in Beautiful Soul production making each garment a piece of art. Spring Summer 2012 trench coats sport  buttons made of 100% vegetable ivory which is made with a seed from a palm tree.
I instantly recognise Beautiful Soul pieces, the beautiful prints, the ribbons used to fasten a jacket and the use of the fabrics are all tell tale signs for this ethical and luxury label. You can buy Beautiful Soul collection online or at the V&A shop among other stockists. Below just two sample from the new collection that will hit the shops in the Spring 2012.

Olga Berg: Handbags for Every Occasion

It is impossible not to stop when looking at a Olga Berg's handbag. It 's happened to me when I've seen her collection for Spring Summer 2012. The look is very vintage embracing more than one decade. So we've got bags inspired by the 1940's or frame bags 1950's style and soft leather clutches reminding of the 1970's. Colours are vivid and prints very bold, while fabrics are tactile and a pleasure to look at. Every moment of the day is punctuated by an Olga Berg bag. Sophisticated clutches are the perfect accessorise for the evening, big enough to contain a lipstick, credit card and the mobile phone, the frame bags are sweet in ice cream colours. Difficult to choose but easy to find something you will like to bring home.

PostHuman Wardrobe by Nimesh Gadhia

Vauxhall Fashion Scout 's "Ones To Watch MEN" introduced to the fashion pack during London Fashion Week the designer Nimesh Gadhia, whose label "PostHuman Wardrobe" sent on the catwalk a collection which could be more a work of art given the lines and the shapes of trousers and jackets. PostHuman Wardrobe' s palette saw dark green and white like the stars of the show, with some flashes of red in a scarf, both very thin or wide adorning the models' necks. I like the floaty shirts which reminded me of a medieval shirt and the structured jackets are garments where it is possible to see the skills of a Savile Row's tailor like Nimesh Gadhia, who knows exactly how to design and cut a garment to perfection.

KYE Spring Summer 2012

Military look for designer KYE that during London Fashion Week presented her collection among " Ones To Watch MEN" organised by Vauxhall Fashion Scout at the Freemasons Hall. Boots are gold and jackets carry messages like " Live and Let Live", KYE 's motto for this collection. A military style that wouldn't be out of place in a club, dancing all night, with comfy trousers and long T-shirts.

Baartmans and Siegel Spring Summer 2012 Collection

Classic with a twist for the duo Baartmans and Siegel in their catwalk for " Ones To Watch MEN" presented by Vauxhall Fashion Scout at the Freemasons Hall during London Fashion Week. Tailored cuts and high quality fabrics like silk, fine cotton, Irish linen, enriched with details like nappa leather collars, horn buttons, scarves in cotton that give a formal outfit a new and fresh look. Baartmans and Siegel used a  palette of earthy colours, like sand, black, white and a shot of orange like the sun shining in a desert or a wild flower in an oasis.

Trine Lindegaard is One To Watch

Trine Lindegaard has been part of the "Ones To Watch MEN" for the season Spring Summer 2012 and she made her catwalk debut during London Fashion Week at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout held at the Freemasons Hall. Danish Trine has introduced her collection showing a man who is not afraid to dare with colours and shapes. It is a menswear collection but some of the clothing I would have happily worn it myself.

Aftershock fabulous evening wear

When I've visited the Aftershock space during the Fashion Press Week I've thought I've stepped in one of those fantastic black and white films, full of glamour and sophistication. That's the idea for their collection, a range of spectacular evening dresses using the highest quality in  fabrics and designs. And the attention to details is not just relegated to the dresses, accessorises are also very important to complement an outfit, so a range of sparkling clutch bags, costume jewellery and great shoes are at hand to create the perfect look for a special evening. Aftershock has got very reasonable prices and many shops worldwide. I've seen one in South Molton Street in London and I believe that a little visit should be on the list for any woman looking for something stylish to wear. The huge variety of collections available at Aftershock will dress you from day to evening in the chicest way. The pictures below are from the  Spring Summer  Collection and you've got a preview. Check their website to find a store near you and to view the Autumn Winter Collection.

Issa London Spring Summer 2012 in Rio de Janeiro

Issa London collection at London Fashion Week has been a bright and lively show. The designer, has become a household name after Catherine Duchess of Cambridge has chosen one of her dresses for the engagement picture to Prince William and after a couple of hours the dress sold out.
Everyone was wondering if one of the Middleton sisters would show up on the front row for Daniella Helayel catwalk, but unfortunately they did not come. Well, they missed a great show, fantastic music and a collection that I would wear entirely because every outfit was so wearable and pretty. I'm sure that this coming Spring  and Summer will see one of Issa London' s creation at some Royal engagement for the Diamond Jubilee. Prints captured the Brazilian Botanic Garden, fruits and tropical colours. The palette was bright with yellow, blue, sorbet colours and fabrics were floaty with laces and fresh cotton. The show ended with a samba girl in a stunning outfit with feathers and crystals. I was too far to take a proper picture but you can have a fair idea of what happened in one of the most lively shows during London Fashion Week.

Bjorg the Odissey Collection 2012

I love unusual jewellery, something that is a bit different and becomes a talking point during a party or an addition to an outfit. Not necessarily it is made with precious metals like Bjorg that uses bronze plated to create stunning pieces of jewellery. Its Odissey Collection  is inspired by mythology and tales reminding me of sci - fi novels and races like elves or fairies. In its jewellery, crystals, opals, horsehair and feathers are 100% natural and earring studs are made of solid silver taking away any risk of allergies.
Just wearing a Bjorg  jewel will made you stand up from the crowd.
